ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 Highlights.
The Sri Lanka women’s cricket team defeated the Bangladesh women’s team by 7 runs to register their first win of the tournament in the 21st match of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. Batting first in the match played in Navi Mumbai, Sri Lanka scored 202 runs for all wickets in 44.4 overs.
Hasini Perera, for Sri Lanka, batted brilliantly, scoring 85 runs off 99 balls, including 13 fours and one six. This was her best ODI score of her career. During this innings, Perera completed 1,000 runs in women’s ODI cricket. She has scored 1,036 runs in 59 matches at an average of 19.18, and this was her first half-century in ODIs. For this performance, she was awarded the Player of the Match award.
Bangladesh women’s team managed only 195 runs for 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs, losing the match by 7 runs. Nigar Sultana and Sharmin Akhtar scored half-centuries, but could not lead the team to victory. After initial setbacks, both men steadied the innings, but in the end, Bangladesh’s batting collapsed again.
After Vishmi Gunaratne was dismissed for 0, Atapattu and Perera steadied the team. Nilakshi de Silva also contributed 37 runs. The bowlers also performed disciplinedly, keeping Bangladesh away from the target and securing their first win of the tournament. Captain Chamari Atapattu played a crucial role in her team’s victory by taking 4 crucial wickets.
