T20 World Cup: England defeated Scotland by 5 wickets in the 23rd match of the T20 World Cup 2026.
This was England’s second win in the tournament, with which the team has secured second place in the points table of Group C.
Scotland, who lost the toss and were put into bat at Eden Gardens, were bundled out for just 152 in 19.4 overs. The team had suffered two setbacks by the time they reached 18, before captain Richie Berrington shared a 24-run stand for the third wicket with Michael Jones. Jones was dismissed for 33 off 20 balls with six boundaries. Berrington then added 71 runs for the fourth wicket with Tom Bruce in 41 balls to take the team to 113.
Batting first, Scotland suffered two setbacks in the third over at the score of 18. George Munsey could score only 4 runs while Brandon McMullen remained unbeaten. Michael Jones played an innings of 33 runs while Tom Bruce contributed 24 runs. Captain Richie Berrington missed the half-century. He faced 32 balls and scored 49 runs. Adil Rashid got him out LBW. After this, no one’s bat performed well. Oliver Davidson remained unbeaten on 20 runs.
For England, Adil Rashid took three wickets. Liam Dawson and Jofra Archer took two wickets each. Jamie Overton and Sam Curran took one wicket each.
