India won the toss and elected to bat first in Ahmedabad, scoring 193 runs in 20 overs. Chasing this target, the Netherlands could only manage 176/7 in 20 overs. Batting at number three, Bas de Leede contributed the most with 33 runs. Jack Lyon, batting at number eight, scored an unbeaten 25 off 12 balls. However, he too could not lead the team to victory.
Shivam Dube (66) top-scored for India. Suryakumar Yadav (34), Tilak Varma (31), Hardik Pandya (30), and Ishan Kishan (18) all chipped in with runs. Rinku Singh remained unbeaten on 6 off 3 balls, while Abhishek Sharma once again failed to score. This is his third consecutive 0 in the T20 World cup.
