The Indian team has been clean swept in the Test series against South Africa. South Africa won the second match of the Test series being played in Guwahati by 408 runs. India had a target of 549 runs to win in the last innings. The team’s innings was reduced to just 140 runs. South Africa had won the first match of the series by 30 runs. This is the biggest defeat of the Indian team in Test cricket in terms of runs.

South Africa scored 489 runs in their first innings. In reply, India’s first innings was reduced to 201 runs. South Africa did not enforce the follow-on and batted in the second innings and declared the innings at 260 for five. Adding the 288-run lead from the first innings, the total lead was 548 runs and India was set a target of 549 runs. By the end of the fourth day’s play, India had lost the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) and KL Rahul (6).

Sai Sudarshan was dismissed for 14, Kuldeep Yadav for five, Dhruv Jurel for two, and captain Rishabh Pant for 13. Washington Sundar made 16. Jadeja scored his 28th Test half-century but was dismissed for 54 off 87 balls, including four fours and two sixes. Nitish Reddy and Siraj failed to open their account. Simon Harmer took six wickets for South Africa. Keshav Maharaj took two wickets, while Marco Jansen and Muthusamy each took one wicket.
