Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bowl first. Batting first, England women scored 253 for 9. England’s start wasn’t particularly good. Amy Jones was run out for 24 after scoring 11 runs. Tammy Beaumont also departed after scoring 32 runs. Heather Knight then contributed 29 runs. England captain Sciver-Brunt played a brilliant innings of 117 runs.
Chasing the target, the Sri Lankan women’s team was all out for 164 runs. Hasini Perera scored 35, Harshitha Samarawickrama 33, and Nilakshika Silva 23. Other batsmen were unable to counter the English bowlers. Sophie Ecclestone bowled brilliantly for England, bowling 3 maidens in 10 overs and taking 4 wickets for just 17 runs. Captains Nat Scavier Brunt and Charlie Dean took 2 wickets each, while Linsey Smith and Elsie Capsey took 1 wicket each.
