Bangladesh won the first match of the T20 series in Sharjah by four wickets. Batting first, Afghanistan scored 151 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Chasing the target, Bangladesh won the match thanks to half-centuries from Tanzid Hasan Ahmed and Parvez Hussain. Notably, after losing their first wicket at 109, Bangladesh lost six wickets by the time they reached 118.

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first, but the team didn’t have a good start. Openers Sediqullah Atal and Ibrahim Zadran were dismissed for 10 and 15 runs respectively. Rahmanullah Gurbaz then scored a crucial 40 off 31 balls, while Mohammad Nabi made a crucial 38 off 25 balls. Sharafuddin Ashraf added an unbeaten 17 runs in the final overs to take Afghanistan to 151 for 9.

Bangladesh’s Tamim and Parvez hit half centuries

Tamim scored 51 runs off 37 balls, hitting three sixes and as many fours. Parvez scored 54 runs off 37 balls, hitting three sixes and four fours in his innings at a strike rate of 145.
